String Theory is a series of over 25 amulets created from
1950's parquet flooring torn up from my family's New York
City apartment after a flood.  Using the wood, its tarred
backing and reclaimed white yarn, I knot, twist, tie and
wrap in metaphor for the interconnectedness of the
universe.
Current scientific String Theory opens up the possibility
of ten dimensions, and creates a link between previously
incompatible scientific theories.
These pieces were once a floor to be walked upon. Now
they are sacred objects, creating a link between the
soles of our feet and the soulful longings of our heart.
We must worship the ground we walk on - our Mother, the
Earth.
